How to Ride a Horse | Benefits of Horse Riding | Safety tips | PDF Download

As a human being, we always fear doing new things although there is some adventure in it. Horse riding is one of them, people generally feel bit of nervousness dealing with it. Horses aren't always that big, are they? But do not give up. You can conquer your fear and ride that horse! Well today, we will teach you how to ride a horse out of your curiosity.

Things You Need For Horse Riding

    • A well trained horse or pony
    • Well fitting tack
    • An enclosed area in which to ride
    • Someone to lead the horse, if you wish
    • Halter and Lead rope (if you are being lead)
    • Someone to help you get on
    • Common sense to keep you safe
    • Your parents
    • A helmet
    • A body protector
    • Sturdy tennis shoes or, preferably, boots

    Things To Do Beforehand

      1. Make sure your horse is fully trained.
      2. Ask the horse's owner before riding it. If they say yes, pat the horse and maybe even feed him a treat. You may also be able to groom him and this will create a bond between the two of you.
      3. Warm up your legs and your horse properly. Spend 10-15 minutes walking and trotting energetically around in 2 point or jumping position. Make sure your heels are down and envision your legs wrapping around the horse's barrel like a belt. Mix up your periods of 2 point position with regular posting, double posting (up for 2, sit for 2), or even triple posting if you like (up for 3, sit for 2). Also, remember to vary your path: serpentines, changes of direction, circles, figure 8s, etc. This keeps your horse's mind on work.
      4. When you're ready, gather up your confidence. Now, you're ready to get on.
      5. If you are small or afraid of heights, you may want to ride a pony (small horse).
      6. If you're small or not very strong, have an adult lift you up. If you are bigger, get on.
      7. Adjust your stirrups, if necessary.
      8. If you get on the horse, and you are terrified, make sure to let an adult know. Just don't make any loud noises that might frighten the horse.
      9. When you're ready, tell the owner or person holding the lead rope that you're ready to go.
      10. Cross your right stirrup over the front of the saddle followed by the left. Do it in this order in case you need to get back on at any point (getting on with the left stirrup).
      11. It is always easier to ride western, because the saddle is comfier, and there is a saddle horn for security.
      12. Be sure that your safety gear fits correctly. If your helmet is too big, it isn't even worth wearing one.
      13. Hold on and have fun!
      14. Do not scream of make sudden movements near the horse. Even a very well trained horse may spook.

    Safety Tips

      1. Horses are sensitive animals. Always make sure you are relaxed and calm around them, so as not to make them feel nervous.
      2. When you are trotting during horse riding, keep track of where your feet are. If they are under you, that is fine. Try recognizing the beat of your gait by calling out these: walk - 1 2 3 4 trot - 121212 canter - 1 2 3
      3. Never scream on a horses back, even if he gets nervous and starts to trot, don't panic, because the more pressure you put on the horse, the more scared you will make him.
      4. If this is your first time riding, never try bareback. A lot of people think that bareback should be their first ride so they can feel the horse underneath them first. Wrong. The saddle is always there for your comfort and protection, and its always safe. Try a bareback session after you ride with a saddle.
      5. Always wear long pants when riding.
      6. Never sit or kneel near a horse.
      7. Try to always mount from the left side or near side. Horses are usually trained most on this side, but a well trained horse should be handled on both sides equally.
      8. Don't run up to a horse, you can come up behind it but make sure the horse knows you're there and be cautious, you can pat him on his rump and say "whoa" or "easy boy" so he knows you are there! Always move to his shoulder and always talk to him so he knows your coming closer.
      9. Always wear riding boots that have a a flat sole with a slight heel.
      10. Always wear a safety helmet for your protection with the correct standard for horse riding. Move with the horse when it moves.

    Benefits of Horse Riding

      1. Horse riding and activities associated with horse riding are classed as moderate intensity exercises.
      2. Horse riding stimulates mainly positive psychological feelings.
      3. Horse riders are strongly motivated to take part in riding by the sense of well-being they gain from interacting with horses.
      4. Being outdoors and in contact with nature is an important motivation for the vast majority of horse riders.
      5. Amongst the horse riders who took part in the survey, 39 percent had taken no other form of physical activity in the last four weeks. This highlights the importance of riding to these people, who might otherwise be sedentary.

Why prefer BBM over other IMs ? BBM Facts | BBM for Android and iOS Available

Finally, BBM is coming to Android and iPhone on 21 and 22 september respectively. In May, 2013 Thorstein Heins, President and CEO, BlackBerry announced that soon BBM will be available for Android and iOS platform. Since then, there is lot of buzz around regarding BBM. Although there are number of Free Calling and Messaging Apps available in Android Market yet people are crazy about BBM. Why everyone is giving so much preference to BBM over WhatsApp, Viber, Line, WeChat etc. Check out interesting article about BBM and its Facts.

There are number of instant messaging apps hitting Android Market after every week or so. So, it is getting hard for users, which one to prefer ? The new candidate is BBM [BlackBerry Messenger]. BBM is a brand in itself. It is far better than any other IM applications available on Google Play Store or iTunes Store. There are number of facts to support BBM over others.

    What is BlackBerry ?

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is a proprietary Internet-based instant messenger and video-telephony application included on BlackBerry devices that allows messaging (and videocalls for BlackBerry 10 smartphones) between BB users. It was developed by the manufacturer of the BlackBerry [formerly Research In Motion (RIM)]. Messages sent via BlackBerry Messenger are sent over the Internet and use the BB PIN system, so communication is only possible between BB devices.

What is there in BBM ?

As per first announcement on 14 may, 2013 BlackBerry Messenger for Android, iOS the initial version will provide :

      1. The BBM Multi-person chats
      2. Voice note sharing
      3. BlackBerry Groups, where BBM users are able to set up groups of 4 and upto 30 people. They can share calendar, photos, files and more.
      4. 56% of the users are women : Alicia Keys, Creative Director, BlackBerry.
      5. 60 million active millon users with 10 billion messages per day on BBM with most messages read under 20 seconds.

    Why BBM ?

Blackberry launches BBM on iOS 6 and Android platforms. It is very good move if they intends to eventually be a software and services company only.

      1. It is revealed at BB Live event held in Florida on may 14, 2013 that there are 1,20,000 applications today on BlackBerry World.
      2. High-end Security features of BBM are better than any other IM providers. Like on WhatsApp, the new owner of the number can easily access your contacts. It is a significant privacy infringement. User need to block somebody manually if he.she do not intend to receive messages from that contact whereas BBM never discloses any unnecessary information, such as the last time and date when you appeared online.
      3. It is mentionable that BlackBerry sales are not sky touching like that of iOS and Android still Blackberry retains the title of the King of security. BBM makes use of a user ID or device PIN, thereby, providing you with an elegant system to authorize a user. If you do not authorize a user, he/she will not be able to message you.
      4. BBM works flawlessly, even when the mobile network is not working or is choking. It functions on the huge private network of Blackberry that interlinks carriers with BlackBerry private infrastructure across the world. No other provider gives such a great reliability and secure communication.
      5. The biggest thing is that now it is available on your Android and iOS so no need to have Blackberry device to use BBM

    Facts about BlackBerry

      1. A Canada based company, Research In Motion popularly known as RIM developing BlackBerry devices since 1996.

What is Amphibian aircraft ? India - Japan Agreement on US-2 Flying Boats | PDF Download

What are Amphibious Aircrafts or Flying Boats

The aircraft which has dual uses of landing on still waters and having long-range civilian and military applications, sometimes known as Flying Boat. An amphibious or amphibian aircraft is an aircraft that can take off and land on either land or water. All Amphibian aircraft are thus classified both as seaplanes and make up the rarest subclass of seaplanes. Like all seaplanes, Amphibious aircraft are typically flying boats and floatplanes — but while their major physical attributes are those placing them within those broad classes, amphibians are also engineered with retractable wheels making them amphibious — at the expense of extra weight and complexity, plus diminished range and fuel economy factors comparative to planes specialized for land or water only. READ MORE

    Design Technique of Amphibians Aircraft

Amphibian aircraft features a high-wing configuration combined with modern turboprop engines and digital avionics for maximum mission versatility. Fully powered flight controls enhance precise handling and low-speed maneuverability. The aircraft’s normal cruise speed is 180 knots (333 kilometres per hour), with a maximum ferry range of 1,260 nautical miles (2,333 kilometres); fuel consumption (ISA, 5000ft, Utility Role, LRC) is typically 1000 pounds (565 litres) per hour.

Since the aircraft was designed for operation in salt-water environments, parts and components receive surface treatments and protective coatings during the manufacturing process before assembly. Sealants and corrosion-inhibiting compounds are used extensively to prevent contact between metal and corrosive agents. The aircraft also has good drainage and ventilation features, as well as numerous removable panels for inspection. Advantage to a twin engine amphibious helicopter is the ability to operate with relative safety in close proximity to the water.

[PDF] How Shahrukh got AbRam | All about Surrogacy | Surrogate Mothers | PDF

From last few days, Bollywood Star Shahrukh Khan is again in News, this time due to his new born son named AbRam. The baby is their third child, Shah Rukh Khan(47), who is already a father to Aryan(16) and Suhana(13). The third child of SRK was reportedly delivered by a surrogate mother at Masrani Hospital in Andheri on May 27. The baby is premature by two months is not delivered naturally by Gauri Khan, SRK's Wife, he is born through surrogacy. The Surrogate mother of baby is Gauri Khan’s sister-in-law Namita Chibber. On May 27, 2013 Municipal corporation officers received this baby's birth certificate.

Shahrukh and Gauri reportedly consulted the same doctor that Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao went to for their baby Azad in 2011, through surrogacy. What is this Surrogacy, today we are going to have deep study of the matter. Some people (usually gay/bi/queer/trans men) consider the possibility of getting pregnant using sperm either from a partner or a sperm donor, then this sperm and egg is transplanted into womb of surrogate mother, this whole process is named as Surrogacy. A person who carries a child they do not intend to be a parent.

    Surrogacy

The surrogacy is a process of carrying baby of own or another parents' into ones womb. A surrogate mother is inseminated with sperm from the father. The woman’s eggs may be removed, fertilized and then re-implanted in the surrogate. A Surrogate Mother is a giving, kind and healthy woman between the ages of 21-42 years, who has a history of easy, uncomplicated pregnancies and is in a financially secure position.

There are two main types of surrogates:

    1. Traditional surrogates are people who have their own egg fertilized and carry the pregnancy. The arrangement in which the Surrogate Mother is also the biological mother of the child she will bear for the Intended Parents.
    2. Gestational surrogates, the process of carrying a pregnancy created through a fertilized egg from another person, an egg donor.

The surrogates are not biologically related to the child they are carrying. Surrogate motherhood can result in six individuals with potential parental interests:

    1. The man whose sperm is used

    2. The woman whose egg is used

    3. The woman who carries the baby (surrogate mother)

    4. The surrogate mother’s husband

    5. The two parents who contracted to raise the child.

Some other terms related to Surrogacy

    1. Adoption - It refers to the process of becoming a legal parent or guardian of a child to whom one is not biologically related. It is legal for two people in a same-sex relationship to jointly adopt. There are two types of adoptions available namely, private and public.

    2. Cryopreservation - The process of freezing different reproductive material, including gametes, zygotes, pre-embryos, and embryos. It is the key process that makes assisted reproductive technology possible after one parent has already died. Sperm can be preserved for at least ten years to maximum of hundred years, through this technique.

    3. Artificial Insemination - The sperm from anonymous donor or from the husband of the woman is inserted either into the vagina, uterus, or fallopian tubes of a woman with a syringe

    4. In vitro fertilization (IVF) - The process in which eggs are extracted from a woman’s ovaries, the extracted eggs are fertilized in a lab with sperm, and the fertilized eggs are then inserted back into the woman’s uterus through the cervix. On average, 20% to 40% of the eggs fail to be fertilize.

    5. Gamete Intra-fallopian Transfer - The eggs are extracted in the same way as in IVF which are then the unfertilized eggs, along with sperm, are inserted into the woman’s fallopian tubes through an incision in the abdomen. After fertilization, any resulting embryo naturally moves into the uterus.

    6. Zygote Intra-fallopian Transfer - It involves fertilizing extracted eggs in the lab, but unlike IVF, once the eggs are fertilized, they are implanted into the woman’s fallopian tubes rather than uterus.

    7. Embryo Lavage and Transfer - Here, Egg is fertilized in a donor’s body. Then, the resulting embryo is removed and transferred to the recipient.

    Surrogacy in India

    Application for Surrogacy :
    Details about Surrogacy :

    Religious perspective

As far Muslim religion, Surrogacy is considered illegal as mentioned in Kuran. The Bible does not forbid the use of a surrogate mother but questions whether or not it is ethical. Marriage is designed to be between two people, and children are to be born of that union but to bring in a third party means that the child will have a third parent is somehow unethical.

There are number of surrogate Mothers available around the world. Various private and public agencies working for the cause. Some of them are :

Later, it was discovered that letters were tainted with deadly ricin poison. It is worth mentioning that copy of same ricin-laced letter also sent to senator Roger Wicker.
These letters were intercepted by White house mail faculty. The White House Secret Security Service revealed that the letter was from same sender, who mailed poisonous letter to Republican senator Roger Wicker, one day before the incident. It is believed that there might be link between Boston attacks and these letters.
The contents of a letter read as:
“To see a wrong and not expose it, is to become a silent partner to its continuance.”

    and signed as:
“I am KC and I approve this message.”
On may 30, 2013, after a month and a half, the same ricin-laced letters were again intercepted by Mail Screening Faculty (MSF) at White House and the copies of same letters were received by Repulican Senator of New York City, Michael Bloomberg. Mr. Bloomberg is Mayor as well as a Billionaire who supports National Movement against illegal Guns Control. As per the latest reports, an Actress named Shannon Richardson from Texas was arrested on June 9, 2013 for allegedly sending ricin-tainted letters to Prez Obama and NYC Mayor Bloomberg. Now, question arises is what is Ricin, and from where it is obtained. Have a read:

    Study of Castor Oil plant

Castor oil is obtained from pressing castor beans (the seeds of a plant which has the botanical nameRicinus communis of the family Eurphorbiacae. The oil is a pale yellow, viscous, non-volatile and non-drying with a bland taste, obtained either by one or a combination of mechanical pressing or solvent extraction. It finds uses as a purgative, a plastic and textile finishing material, in paints and varnishes, a feedstock to the transesterification process for the production of biodiesel, as well as in the beauty industry as a cosmetic and hair oil. Castor oil has an advantage over other mineral oils in that it is a biodegradable, eco-friendly and renewable resource. It is found mainly in the southeastern Mediterranean Basin, Eastern Africa, and India etc.
Castor oil (ricinus oil, phorboyl, tangantangan oil) is a natural oil derived from the seeds of the castor bean by cold pressing (for medicinal use) or hot pressing (for industrial purposes). Chemically, castor oil is a triglyceride characterized by a high content of ricinolein (a glyceride of 12-hydroxy-9-octadecenoic acid). It has the approximate fatty acid composition of ricinoleic acid (87%), oleic acid (7%), linoleic acid (3%), palmitic acid (2%), stearic acid (1%), with trace amounts of dihydroxystearic acid (Windholz, 1976).
Castor seed is the source of castor oil, with wide variety of uses. It is flowering plant. The castor seeds is a castor bean, not actually a bean, contains 40% to 60% oil that is rich in triglycerides, mainly ricinolein. The seed contains ricin, a toxin, which is also present in lower concentrations throughout the plant. So, we can say somehow whole of a plant is carrying poisonous content.

    What is Ricin

Ricin sometimes known as raisin is protein found in Castor oil plant. It is a highly toxic, naturally occurring carbohydrate-binding protein of the type known as lectins. It is comprised largely of triglycerides with a high ricinolin content. In an experiment for the Toxicity studies, exposure to castor oil at dietary concentrations as high as 10% in 13-week studies did not affect survival or body weight gains of rats or mice (10 per sex and dose). Liver weights were increased in male rats receiving the 10% dietary concentration and in male and female mice receiving diets containing 5% or 10% castor oil.
Accordong to US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Ricin, if inhaled, eaten, or injected, is so powerful poison that even a lethal dose in humans of about the size of a grain of salt (500 micrograms injected or inhaled) can lead to a death. It is a water soluble but cannot be absorbed through the skin, so simply touching ricin or getting ricin powder in your eyes will not cause poisoning.
