Eat Tomatoes To Curb Diseases After 40 | Health Benefits of Tomato | Tomato Facts

Once you hit 40, your body starts to change and you are likely to encounter health problems you’ve not had before. Not only will you be more prone to lifestyle diseases but also have a longer recovery time. It is therefore essential to take extra measures to make sure you are hale and hearty.

Eating ‪‎tomatoes‬ can come in handy to keep several diseases at bay. This is because they are an excellent source of the antioxidant lycopene. Tomatoes protect one against the formation of cancer cells in the body. They also protect the walls of the arteries from thickening. This prevents heart diseases.

Not just this, tomato juice is helpful in protecting against prostate cancer, lung and stomach cancers as well. So if you are looking for a remedy to keep health problems away, make sure you include this red fruit‬ in your diet‬.

Health Benefits of Tomato

1. Cleanse and tone skin. Get your hands messy and mash one tomato and one avocado into a facial mask. Smooth onto your skin and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. The tomato deep-cleans dirt and debris, while the avocado restores moisture. Wash off with lukewarm water and pat face dry.

Tip : Because tomatoes are highly acidic, it may sting or burn. I always recommend testing a small area first.

2. Get rid of oily skin : The above routine can reduce shine, too. Vitamins C and A, as well as amino acids, are known for their oil-minimizing properties. Just be sure to follow up with a hydrating moisturizer immediately after cleansing.

3. Treat acne and remove blackheads : A tomato's acidity is powerful enough to clear up pimples and blemishes. Simply apply the pulp to the affected area for up to 30 minutes each day, and then rinse off. Do this consistently over two weeks and you will begin to notice fewer breakouts.

4.  Add shine to a dull complexion : Want glowing skin in under 15 minutes? No big deal when you've got tomato juice. Just add a bit of honey until you've created a thick paste. Rub the gooey mask onto your face, relax while it does its thing and then wash off.

5. Remedy sunburns : Laid out in the sun for too long and ended up with a painful burn ? Soothe your skin by rubbing on a cool blend of tomato and yogurt.

6. Shrink large pores : Combine one tablespoon of fresh tomato juice and two drops of lime juice in a small bowl. Dab a cotton swab into the mixture and swipe onto your face in upward circular motions. After about 10 minutes, rinse the pore-shrinking solution off with cool water.

7. Condition dry hair and relieve an itchy scalp : Once you've shampooed your hair, pour tomato juice onto your strands and leave on for five minutes. The homemade conditioner will not only remove buildup, but it will hydrate parched locks. Rinse with cold water.

Bharatiya Mahila Bank [BMB] is an Indian financial services banking company based in New Delhi, India. Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated the system on 19 November 2013 on the occasion of the 94th birth anniversary of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Although initially reported as a bank exclusively for women, the bank allows deposits to flow from everyone, but lending will be predominantly for women.

Facts About Bhartiya Mahila Bank

  • India is the third country in the world to have a bank especially for women, after Pakistan and Tanzania.
  • The first ever state-owned women’s bank of India, Bharatiya Mahila Bank was inaugurated on November 19, 2013, Tuesday from Mumbai via video conferencing, by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
  • The iconic Air India building, located at Nariman Point, Mumbai, was chosen by the Government for the inauguration of the premiere branch of Bharatiya Mahila Bank.
  • The Reserve Bank of India gave its in-principal approval for the Bharatiya Mahila Bank in June 2013 after which the banking company was set up.
  • The bank welcomes both men and women to open accounts, but for loans there is a positive bias towards women.
  • In the Budget speech of 2012-13, Mr Chidambaram had announced a sum of Rs. 1,000 crore as the seed capital for the establishment of the Bharatiya Mahila Bank.
  • Till date, there are 23 branches spreading in  all over India.

Frequently Asked Questions About BMB

Q) How is Bharatiya Mahila Bank different from the other banks ?
Ans. There is a kind of confusion prevailing in the minds of people. The bank is for everyone. When it comes to deposits, we are open to taking deposits from both men and women. Both are welcome to our branches, to open accounts with us and to bank with us.
The raw material (for banks) is the deposit. In India, where money rests with men, we cannot have restrictions and allow only women to open accounts, in which case we will be deprived of the raw material.
On the advances or loaning side, we need to be different. We are a ‘mahila’ (woman) bank, so we want to predominantly loan to women. That is where the distinction comes.
Otherwise, we will be like any other public sector bank. So by differentiating on the loaning front, with a thrust and focus on women, differentiation will happen.

Q) Are the bank’s employees of both genders as well ?

Ans. The staff comprises both men and women, though we would like to have our offices staffed by women. As of now, we are drawing staff from various banks. It depends on the interest evinced by the people. I was going through the new staff for some of the centres, for example Ranchi, where 30 to 40 people are interested in joining, but there are only two females.
We want to be predominantly staffed by the women but currently are running a ratio of 70:30, in favour of women. But, of course, we do not know what the new staff is going to be like.

Q) What exactly will this bank do for women ?

Ans. Most women in India do not have a formal relationship with a bank. Only 26 per cent have some kind of dealing with a bank. We have a female population of 47-50 per cent, but a small population of this actually does banking. It is not very encouraging.
First and foremost, we want them to have a relationship with a bank. And, any relationship starts with a simple savings account. We want women to get introduced to a simple savings account and the next step is a group account, and then self-help groups, or activities, individually or otherwise. So, we are open to encouraging women to have some kind of economic activity.

Q) The bank’s branches are mainly in towns where women already have access to banks. Are you planning to move to rural areas also ?

Ans. Yes. This is a new bank. In a huge country like India, we first need to establish our presence. So we are going to all State capitals, except in Bhopal, since we already have one in Indore.
All capital cities are getting covered from Kerala to Arunachal Pradesh to get a pan-India presence. The next plan will entail covering a set of Tier-2 and Tier-3 centres and unbanked rural centres.

Q) How will the bank go out of its way to facilitate and encourage women to open an account, considering that a lot of documentation is required to open an account ?

Ans. We need to look at issues case by case. We would not dilute certain standards but on a case to case basis we will have to work with them. We would rather support them and facilitate them.

Q) How is working at the Bharatiya Mahila Bank different from other public sector banks? Are there differences in work culture ?

Ans. I have come from Bank of Baroda, which is more than a hundred years old. I have also been with Punjab National Bank, which is 115 years old. These are two giants of the Indian banking industry and have distinct work cultures.
The challenge is to evolve a culture for this organisation. It is a multi-cultural organization. Every organization must have a culture of its own. This needs to evolve and it does not happen in a month or two.
As of now, except a few directly recruited officers whom I can claim are the properties of the bank, everybody here is from a different bank.

Q) How were these people brought here, on deputation ?

Ans. Yes, on deputation. There was a circular from the Ministry of Finance to encourage people to come here. We brought them here one grade higher as an incentive. I will not say it is a great incentive but it is an incentive, nevertheless.
Banks— like Bank of Baroda and Punjab National Bank—are already established organisations. The systems, procedures, cultures, everything is set, but there is improvisation happening.
We need to have a Bharatiya Mahila Bank mindset. At present, we are a multi-cultural organization with officers and staff bringing their own cultures. To come out of that mindset and be your natural self, and adapt to a new culture, is the challenge to the officers also.

Q) When you took over this place, were you given a brief from the government or the Finance Ministry on how to mould this bank, or anything specific you were told to do ?

Ans. I would say no and yes. I was part of the M.B.N. Rao Committee, set up after the announcement of the bank in the 2013-14 Budget.
After the announcement, he formed a committee with six members to give the government a direction on how this bank has to be conceptualized, and what kind of business model it would be.
Of course, things would change but it was the blue print that the committee made. It gave me an idea of what was in store After the report of the committee was submitted, the government formed a core management team— drawing members from different banks. We had engaged some senior retired executives to write policies for the bank.

Q) How would you inspire someone to open an account ?

Ans. We have some attractive interest rates on the savings deposits. Up to Rs.1 lakh, we give 4.5 per cent and beyond that we give 5 per cent.
The bank has launched some innovative schemes for empowering women like kitchen loans, education loans, crèche loans and loans for starting small home-based catering businesses. The bank has attractive rates of interests for women.

Orkut to shut down in September 2014 | Timeline of Orkut | Bidding Farewell through Orkut Facts

After about a decade long service, finally Orkut is bidding adieu. On June 30, 2014, Google announced the retirement of one of its long lasted, popular Social Networking sites before the origin of Facebook. Google in order to reduce burden from its servers, is going to remove ORKUT [Google's first ever social networking website]. Google announced that effective September 30, 2014 Orkut would be “shut down”.via blogs posts in English and Portuguese. From today onwards, no new Orkut account can be created and users can download their entire Orkut history using Google Takeout.

Though it is considered the wise move by Google to help concentrate on its latest alternative Google Plus launched back in 2011, but even after three years of its launch it is not even near to that of its contemporary social networks.
Google Plus celebrated its third birthday on June 28, 2014. The service is popular with some Google fans — particularly keen Android and Chrome users. However, it's hated by some YouTube and Google Play users, because of the forced integration for comments and reviews, and ignored by the vast majority.

Funny Story behind Birth of Orkut
