From last 3-4 years, Bollywood business rises at humongous pace. Bollywood movies started crossing much awaited Rs.100Cr. mark in terms of business in National Circuits as well as International markets. Now, Rs.100 crore mark has become a must for every big film in Bollywood, looking at budgets of films. Recent release to cross this mark was Chennai Express within just 4 days of its release [in India only]. The movie released on the eve of Eid-Ul-Fitr on Friday, August 10, 2013 starring Shahrukh Khan. Both SRK and Director Rohit Shetty came together for the first time. The plot for the story was under-construction since 2009, said Rohit Shetty, when he was shooting for Golmaal Retun with Ajay Devgan. Rohit Shetty wanted to make movie named Angoor with SRK but due to short story he postponed the plan and went to SRK with Chennai Express [CE].

The movie fetched paid previews of Rs.6.75Cr on thursday itself, breaking the record of 3 Idiots [Rs.2.7Cr] by a big margin. CE grossed Rs.6.75Cr[thursday], 33.12Cr[friday], Rs.28.05,Cr[saturday], 32.50cr[sunday] in first 4days on business in India and reached Rs.100.42Cr on sunday night. Chennai Express takes Singapore by storm collecting around $95,359 on thursday, which is highest for a Bollywood Movie. The overseas business for first three days was $1.29mn, $2.3mn, $2.4mn which is around Rs.31Cr in total on saturday.

Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgan at 2nd spot with 4 movies each, followed by Amir Khan, John Abraham, Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor with 2 each. Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan and Saif Ali khan with 1 movie each to their credit.
